No factory turbo boost gauge? 900 1995

Just bought 95 945t 161k and had head gasket done pronto. Did these cars have a turbo boost gauge in the dash? Also is this turbocharger a piece of garbage?,what to replace with ? All of my SAABs 1989-89 have boost gauges and would blow this new brick off the road at any speed.
Volvo crap or something very wrong with car. Thanks for any help.
Curt in Asheville.

Hm, funny way to approach a question in a forum...

'95 940 does not have a turbo boost gauge in the dash.

The turbocharger, probably a Mitsubishi in this car, is not a piece of garbage. It might be a Garrett which is what SAABs use and the performance is similar if not the same.

BTW, If you are not happy with the Volvo I have a very nice '99 SAAB 9-3SE with 99K miles I'd gladly trade you for the '95 Volvo 940... sight unseen!

    hello all

just bought 95 945T and had head gasket done pronto.
    ????

Is the turbocharger a piece of garbage?
maybe the one you have is a piece of garbage. check it out and see.

    what to replace with?
many options. maybe a saab turbo charger.

did these cars have a turbo gauge in the dash?
Not in 1995 940. you could probably swap in a SAAB boost gauge.

all of my SAABs 1989 have boost gauge and will blow this new brick off the road at any speed.
buy more 16 valve SAABs. sell the 8 valve volvo.

volvo crap or something very wrong with car?
One or the other. i vote the latter.

Nice post. come to the most informative forum with the most helpful people you will probably find on the web and bash the very brand you are asking for help with.

    WoW!

        Nice one Mike ;-) (NMI) 900 1995

Hey guys, I tried to email ever one back but thunderbird didn't work so.
1st, me not bashing. The only car I own that I like more is my 1992 W124.119(1992 Mercedes 400E). We paid $1,500.00 knowing the head gasket was toast but that was previous owner's fault for not replacing those firewall heater hoses. I took the car to The Bavarian Motors guy in Kannapolis(long tow), he charged us another $1,300.00, He replaced a mounts, bushings and even rear brakes. Even the tan leather is only worn on driver's butt area. The car is so close to feeling and looking brand new now that we are going to carry full coverage on her. It's just shocking how fast it goes with such comfort that it just seems slow. I want Hydras, Michelins, leatherique, and all new silicone hoses. After so many years with the 245's the ease of use and the split back seat are great. I've got to find one of those original window shade type covers for the the back. I figure after another $2,000.00 and she will but ready for anything.
Thanks for your help. I hope I get to see the finished product. Just got cancer diagnosis 54th bday.

Good luck with the 945 Curt 900 1995

I don't have much turbo smarts, but there are others here who do. My daughter has a '93 945T but I get along with my '93 Regina FI.
Best wishes on your project and health concerns.

No factory turbo boost gauge? 900 1995

    Dear CHBinAsheville,

Hope you're well. Volvo VADIS - the now-superseded dealer parts/service database - shows a boost gauge as part of the tachometer (Part #9434149).

If the instrument cluster (or just the tachometer) has been changed - and a cluster (tachometer) from a non-turbo-equipped car has been installed - the pressure hose to the tachometer should be found behind the instrument cluster housing. If that hose has not been capped, it might explain some loss of pressure.

If you want to put in a tach with a turbo boost gauge, it must come from a 1994 or 1995 donor car. The "gender" of the connector changed, so a tach from a 1993 or earlier model will not fit.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

No boost gauge. Remember, this is a 4 cyl and quite heavy. Horsepower (SAE net):162 @ 4800 rpm. Torque (ft./lbs., SAE net):195 @ 3450 rpm

Check the vacuum lines for the turbo and boost controller for leakage.

    The 1995 855T had a gauge and 222bhp, but a 2.3L 5 cyl.
