Dear Irisius,
Hope you're well. The reason you didn't see information on door alignment/adjustment is that this almost always is done by a body shop.
Here's why: it is very hard to align a door, because: (a) the door is heavy and so hard to hold in one position; (b) it is hard to gauge - once one has loosened the bolts that secure the door to the frame - in what direction and by how much, to move the door, to align it.
I recently had to change the lower hinge on the driver's door. Using a bottle jack, and a piece of wood with a slot cut into it, so that the door would be well-supported, I was able to change the hinge and re-align the door. It is about 98-99% aligned. It closes tightly. But there is the slightest amount of "push-back" when the door is almost closed. At some point, I'll try again to get the alignment 100%.
In short, before loosening the door bolts, remove the edge protectors and see if they are the source of the "squeaks". If so, find another brand of edge protector, that fits properly. If not, then take the car to a body shop, and ask them to re-align the door. An experienced body shop tech will be able to do this in a few minutes.
Hope this helps.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
