Parking brake crimp - T-shaped - broke off at brake lever 700 1990

Hi all.

So, my emergency brake cable's crimp at the very end of the cable broke off due to how I had it adjusted (and how I yanked on it). (This is the end in the interior)
Is there any way to replace the cable end? The last half inch of the cable is what snapped from metal fatigue, and the rest of the cable is fine. I don't want to spend $30 on a new parking cable when the crimp is all that's missing.

I've looked at cable stops before, but they won't span to both sides of the e-brake's lever.

I would think you could fabricate one. One thought comes to mind. A carriage type bolt that has no threads for an inch or two. Cut it the length you need, drill a hole through the center and then secure the cable. Just a guess. bicycle shop for a cable stop?
