engine dimentions 444-544

Hello,

Still trying to get an answer.

I know this has to have been asked many times but Google does not give any answer and searching on this site does not yeild any answer.

What is the length of a b16, b18, b20 and b23 from engine crank snout to the back of the block bell housing flange ?

I have no engine or transmission for my 1961 PV544. I sold it to my friend in Indiana who put it in a FG T-bucket. Here in Arkansas an old Volvo is the needle in the hay stack.

Thanks for any info.

Ray J.

B16 = 22 1/2" from rear of block to front of water pump pulley w/o fan. Bell housing is 6 1/4 long.

B18/20 = 23 1/2" from rear of block to front of water pump w/o fan. Bell housing is 5 1/2" long.

B21/23/230 = 22" from rear of clock to front of the crank nose. Water pump sticks out roughly 3" beyond that. No loose bell housing to measure.

I am acquiring quite a bit of first hand info. Much better than The Toyota sites when researching my Toyota 4age engine in my Morris Minor. Lots of I think I remember or I heard somewhere replies.

Thank you Paul.

Would you happen to have the b16 & b18/20 measurements referenced to a point on the motor mounts? Thank you, Stu

Hi Stu,

I do not have that info. I have had a 1988 S10 2.5l 4-cylinder engine mounted in it and it is a good fit. If I use a Toyota, Nissan or Honda engine I will have to cut the oil pan and put the sump to the rear along with the oil pickup.
Did it to a 302 Ford engine and went around 60,000 miles until I sold it.

Ray J.
