Nope. Was an option until some point (I don't know when exactly). I had a '92 with a regular antenna, and currently have an '88 244 with a power antenna.

I "think" that all 240's had power antennas from the factory, but I have noticed that a lot have been replaced with aftermarket antennas - probably because people didn't know how easy it was to replace the broken nylon gear cord inside. If you have the wiring connections, I would suggest getting a used antenna and buying the replacement mast and nylon cord. I think I got mine on ebay. It was an easy install.

Looks like it back to the pull a part for a power antenna housing. I always liked the power antenna. The car has an original CR 712 cassette deck and turner that does not work. As much as I like to keep things OEM, I guess I will replace it with a CD/MP3 player.

        Thanks for the answers,
        Hawk

I think all volvos used the same power antenna. So don't just look for the 240s in the yard. The 700s and 850s and maybe even the 900s used the same part. The mounting bracket may be different but you can work around that.

I can confirm this statement for the 700 series. Other than a different mounting bracket, it's the same setup in a 200.

If the original stereo is in the upper mounting position, suggest you do what I did - detach the face of the old one to use as a dummy plate to go over the new one. Upper mounting position is a thief magnet, but some careful sawing, gluing and velcro can give you a nice faux stock look for when you park it on the street, and easily removed when you want tunes.
