i have been gifted a low mileage 95 960 that will not start 900

the t belt is nearly new and fine. the car was driven the past few years only for short distances and slow speeds. rarely on the highway. the mileage is just over 102k.

from reading here it sounds like sticking valves are possible.
i also thought a bad ect sensor?

the po stated it ran perfectly and then one morning it would not start.

any suggestions from 960 owners for my starting point? and fix if the valves are the source of trouble

As they say, you need fuel, spark and compression to make an engine run.

If it ran fine and then one day didn't, I would expect something electrical like a fuel pump relay or bad connection.

Since it's a '95, you can pull the codes from the OBDI socket at the rear of the driver's side strut tower. The instructions for how to do so are in the FAQ's here.

Sticking valves would be way down on the list of suspects. Key in the ignition, switch to the run position - do you hear fuel pumps running? Do you get spark when the engine cranks? I'd start with those areas first.
