Okay,
I replaced the rack with a reman form Jorgen automotive in MI. On install I made sure the wheels were at eye center straight on and then locked dthe steering wheel by tying both sides of the steering wheel with rope to the inside of the drivers door and passenger door. This made it stay in place well.
Then I proceeded to remove the rack and installed the new one. I did remove the lower steering coupler but I made sure to mark where it went on the upper half.
So reinstalling it was the same.
At the rack spline it also lined up after I had replaced the tie rod ends to the same number count of the the old ones when taking them off. So all in all it should have been very near the same positions as the old rack.
However, before I took it in today for an alinement, I test drove it and found that the steering wheel was about cocked about 1/8 turn to the right to get it straight on the road. No problem I thought for the alinement to fix that.
***But after the alinement and the steering wheel is now centered top, I have less turning radius to the left than to the right.**** What have I done wrong or is the alinement shop not doing something right?
To the left the steering wheel turns 1 1/4 and bottoms out, to the right I have 1 3/4 turning then bottoms out.
Can I fix this??
