I don't care for them personally. I think the change to a completely mechanical setup is a good one. The capillary tube is probably the most problematic part of the old one. I just don't care for making the swap from the old style to the new. Despite the directions, it's not a simple matter.
I spent forever scrounging up about a dozen of the Ranco replacement valves a couple of years ago. Probably could have found more, but diminishing returns. I have only one left at this point. I'm thinking of saving it for a museum.
I was so disappointed in the 92-93 valve, after doing it in my wagon, that I've developed a bolt in replacement that I'll have to market, probably in about a month. The prototype is done, and it is easy to install, right down to connecting the existing hoses without too much trouble.
