If you can not tell any difference in the way it runs it will not hurt anything for the time being.

Most of the time it is an emissions thing that is not quite right.

The codes only point you in a direction of the problem it has seen or is seeing. There could be many answers or future posts from the board to help you once they have the codes.

The codes will be blinked at you.
That shy, diagnostic mechanic, that is in there, is almost comatose.
