CONVERTING TO FRONT VENTED ROTORS 200 1983

I would like to convert the front brakes on a'83 242 DL to VENTED. Would I need to change/replace anything other than the original rotors/calipers? Do I need to replace the master cylinder, hubs, booster...?

Thank you for any advice you can pass on.

CONVERTING TO FRONT VENTED ROTORS 200 1981

I did this to my '81. There was a smaller diameter spindle. I think it was 16mm on earlier cars. However, I would think that by '83 all the cars had the larger 18mm spindle. I decided to change the entire suspension on each side. It is almost as simple to remove and replace but it costs more. I did it this way to get newer struts and bushings along with better brakes. I think all the suspensions are the same but I don't know about antilock brake equipped cars.

CONVERTING TO FRONT VENTED ROTORS 200 1983

I just did this upgrade on my 82 and didn't replace anything other than the calipers and rotors. Be sure you have a good quality flare wrench (10mm). I ended up rounding off one of the flare nuts on the hard brake line to the caliper with a regular open-end 10mm, so I did have to get that also.

I would disconnect the short hard lines to the caliper at the flexible line first, then remove caliper and remove the lines, connect the short hard lines to the new caliper, mount and reconnect at the flexible line. I tried to just disconnect the lines at the caliper, but re-threading the flare nuts was hard in the tight space, I was afraid I was going to cross thread them... so it's easier to do that before you mount the caliper IMO.

I think it's an 11mm flare wrench needed NMI 200 1983
