Help on a 75 K-Jet fuel delivery system 200

I just bought a clean Texas 1975 Volvo 245. Typical Texas Car with no rust, oxidized paint and shabby seats. It has a B20F engine with the Bosch K-Jet fuel injection system.

Everything seems to work and I had no problems driving 180 miles to Dallas. When I did an inspection I noticed two of the fuel injectors leaked where the fuel lines connect to the fuel injector. I had planned to do some maintenance. So I decided to start with replacing the air cleaner, fuel filter, fuel pump screen, the fuel injectors and then test the other fuel delivery components.
I found new fuel injectors for sale on e-bay for $12.00 each and I ordered the Seal Kit from IPD. I replaced the old injectors they were in rough shape and now I have four leaking injectors that leak at the fuel line connector joint. When I took a close look at the brass colored tapered male fittings on the exit end of the fuel lines I noticed a very wear groove on the taper. When I looked at the female taper on the old fuel injectors I noticed they had a wear spot from the male fitting.

I assume this wear is due to years of engine vibration and the male fittings on the fuel lines do not seal properly mated to the new injectors. Does anybody have any suggestions? Due to the pressure involved I don’t think I could install new fuel line male fittings if I could find them. Would an O Ring help? Is there a source for fuel lines?

Thanks,

Are you sure that you were tightening the fittings tight enough?
Every one I have taken apart was VERY tight.

      Thanks for the reply,

I retightened the connectors and No Joy. I tried some Loctite teflon thread sealant and it didn't help.

The fit between the injector taper and the hose fitting allows the fuel to leak at the fuel line female connector joint.

I also posted on the Matthews forum. An alternative offered was to install the steel braided fuel delivery lines from a VW Rabbit. They to fit except for the turbo engines. I checked and the Rabbit used the same part number fuel injector as the Volvo.

I am going to a picknpull they have three early 80s rabbits and a 79 245. I was going to pull parts off the 245 anyway. I plan to pull the volvo set and a VW set. I would prefer the braided lines. I will post if they fit and work.

      Thanks Dennis

Ditto what George said. Two opposed wrenches squeezed together tight in one hand should do it. If that doesn't work for you let me know--I think I have a complete '75 set-up. -- Dave

Wow, a 75 is way back there in time. I believe the fittings may have changed a few times. The hose fitting may be in a small black plastic hose inside a fat rubber hose. If its the plastic hose it is not easy to work with and requires specal tools to install the fittings.

The hose assembly between the fuel distributor and the injector may still be available from Volvo or its the PnP yard. Here are some links where you may find a picture of your fittings.
