overdrive issues! 120-130

hey everybody! I let out the clutch on the way to work today and after a loud BANG, my 122 wagon decided not to move any more. I have a manual 4 speed w/d-type overdrive. when I put it in gear and step on the pedal my speedometer shows I'm going real fast, even though I'm not moving. so I know everything is good to the point where the speedometer cable is connected. The driveshaft does not turn when I do this, so I'm thinking the output shaft at the back of the overdrive is snapped off inside. Is this a fixable part, or do I just need to find a whole new overdrive to bolt up? Any help is much appreciated!!

If you have a working speedometer and no forward motion, the annulus of the overdrive is damaged. I'd be careful of how you moved the auto.

At this point, if it broke after the sppedometer drive gear, there is only about 1 inche of shaft keeping the driveshaft from falling on the ground.

The annulus is a replaceable part.

However, it would be just as cost effective to find a used D-type and refurbish that.

Contact me off list. I do not have a D-type one on hand. I know where there is one and how much he wants.

Duane
