What I did with my present 240 was a short cut. Having done the dreaded blower motor job on another 240 I wanted to try something else if the motor was running. It was running, but screeching like crazy.
I took the console off to reveal the blower motor housing. I drilled a couple of holes in it and used some silicone lube and/or motor oil to lube up the motor best I could. Then I covered the holes with duck tape.
That was a couple of years ago and the motor is always quiet and always runs when turned on.
