If you use a chunky bolt with a fine thread i.e. many threads per inch and rather more than you've used on your puller, the leverage is increased and this makes the job a lot easier. The pukka Volvo tool is like this. You might be able to find one from an old lathe where they are used to move the heads etc.

Nice choice for the 2-tone, looks good.
