I've got a 86 240DL sedan with an electrical problem. I start the engine and turn on the headlights. I lose all power. The engine stops cold and I cannot restart for 3-4 minutes. It happens also when I engage the high beam switch. (No blown fuses).I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas about this problem.Thank you.

    When checking battery connections, make sure not just the terminals are clean and tight, but also the tabs bolted onto the terminals as it sounds like you are losing vehicle power from the battery, as opposed to starter power.
