intermittent no-start puzzle 700 2000

lh2.4 (563 ecu)turbo 90 780 with a intermittent no-start that I can't seem to track down.

it did throw a code 1-4-4 a couple of times in the ezk diagnostic pin 6

sometimes the car will not start until you wait a few minutes then starts right up - other times it will not start for days then will start and run for several days.

The car does have a lack of power - acts like it is fuel starved when it does run - I know that the fuel lines have a constriction in them that I have attributed this to though - both the supply and the return lines were cut and then spliced back together with hard plastic elbow connectors a couple inches from the fuel tank when the in-tank pump was last replaced - haven't had a chance to replace the lines to get rid of those constrictions yet .

Currently it is not starting at all-

Ive tried swapping the fuel pump relay - it clicks when the key is turned and the pumps do run - I can feel that pressure builds in the rubber fuel line behind the fuel pressure regulator.

I have also tried swapping the radio suppression relay - can feeel it click when the key is turned.

confirmed spark with a timing light - timing light shows that spark is being delivered.

tried swapping the ignition amplifier - still no start

tried swapping the ecu - no effect

any other ideas??

thanks!!
Jim

Did they make the 700's in the year 2000 ? If this is a typo error and you really have a 1990 or thereabouts , check the crankshaft position sensor whose wire passes over the top of the tranny. Insulation rubbed off on mine and contacted the tranny leading to a short that shut the car off intermittently

    Jumper the radio supression relay.

    (1) Remove relay
    (2) Remove the insulation off of the ends of a 2" piece of wire.
    (3) Form a "U" with the wire.
    (4) Insert the ends of the wire into the female connectors that are attached to the two heavier wires in the relay plug.
    (5) Try to start the car.

If it starts and runs the relay is defective- in your case both relays are defective.

What does the 144 code point to (I don't have the information at my desktop)?

    Randy
