heater blower repair. 700 1990

I'm considering replacing my blower motor and am considering Sears service center or Pep Boys to do the job. Has anyone ever been serviced by these guys, are they reliable and inexpensive?

Find a local independent mechanic who works on Volvos and have him do it. The talent at Sears and Pep boys is not very good for anything other than brakes and mufflers. I can guarantee that none of them have seen this repair before. You will pay the same hourly rate at the indy mechanic but be assured that somebody who has done this before is working on your car.

Or do it yourself: simple fix. See the FAQ:

    heater blower repair / Be thankful it 's not a 240 700 1990

This is definitely a do it yourself job. I just did this job a month ago. Took about an hour and a half total. Not that difficult at all. Now if this was a 240 heater blower then that is an entirely different story.

And don't run out and buy a "volvo" blower motor. Pull your old one, most are made by AC delco. Any auto parts can pull the part number off your old one. Got one for mine that was listed for a chevy citation. Under $20.

    Flacito,

The adjectives inexpensive and reliable relate with a negative correlation.

I would rather have an inoperative heater, then a butchered heater.

Do it yourself and save the labor charge, it's very easy. I've done the one on my 1991 Turbo.

I wouldn't let Sears or Pep Boys near my car. Period.
