Remember the cracked black window sill strips?? 200 1990

I wanted, like a lot of bricksters, to find a solution to the cracked black matte-vinyl strips on the doors right outside the window glass. I tried the heatgun/spatula method, then I used an eraser wheel and did remove them only to expose a different shade of gray paint. FINALLY, I found a man who does hand-painted pin stripes for our new cars. He traced the original area where the strps had been, ordered some special vinyl material and used the traces to make brand-new matte-vinyl strips and is coming ove to my garage Friday night to install it on my car. I am so excited. My custome grille, made from the original "frame, painted black and filled with epoxy, and a steel mesh normally used to keep kids/dogs from crashing trough screen doors, first sprayed witha bonding agent then clearcoated to prevent rust. I sut the vertical billets out with my Dremel leaving the two end ones for strngth and possibly housing amber marker lights later on. It is almost ready to drive again.

I just finished my autumn touch-up including the Rust-o-leum all around dab-the-cracked paint.

The black under the window whatever and the rockers got the fresh flat black re-paint with a .29 cent brush. Looks new at fifty feet.

Also blacked out all the now tattered plastic chrome parts from grill to bumpers and changed wheels to dark silver gray with tiny wheel covers.

There is a man who is literally an artist and before him, his sister used to hand-paint pin stripes on our new Lexus cars as they came in. Everyone loved them. She retired to the beach and he took over and now I am with Mercedes-Benz and he does the same, but on-demand a la carte. He traced where the original had been and ordered the vinyl and came to my garage and custom-installed and it rivals new. I promised "pagena" pictures and I will very soon. To answer your question, I don'ty know but will try to find out for you. I gotta tell you, the vinyl is beautiful and he promises it will last the life of the car. (keep in mind, my car is garaged home and office).

    Pageda

Well, my man Bill just finished last night. My bride and I went to ur grand daughter's Trick or Treat tradition as we do eac year and when we came home and opened the garage door, it was like Christmas! The doors look as though it was when the car was onl the showroom.....brand new. If anyone lives near Washington, D.C., it would be worth looking him up. Now, I should have to paint my car and although garage-ekpt, it does have a chip here and there but still good for 22 years old. The vinyl tape is absolutely beautiful and authentic looking. I will do my best to take some quality pix and post for all to see. I be siked!

Well pageda, sir, he puttin' em on tonight. I will actually try to send pics asap. Honest. This guy's sister used to hand-pin stripe every car when they came in when I ran the Lexus store here in town and now he is carrying the tradition. He is very talented and is so reasonable I usually pay him more than he asks for, like his sister, does not realize the true value of perfect work. I am psych'd about the grille, though because it will be unique and kind of cool.
