Trying to fix a parked 240 200 1985

Here's the story. got this car that had been parked for about 7 years. Before parked, it would run then cut out. instead of fixing, they parked it.
Neither fuel pump was working, and the previous owner thought that the fuel pump going out was the initial problem.
I put in new fuel pump under car. I am trying to start car by putting fresh fuel through the system using the main pump with hose to gas can.

It won't start. Dunno if fuel problem now, or if has to do with original problem.

So my question?
Could the fuel rail and injectors be bad? is there a way to test if injectors are working? what would be your next thing to try?

Putting fresh fuel in.
fuelrail

Fuel shoots out of this when I stop turning the ignition. I put hose back on.
Shoots out

And a little help with these please.

Well, I guess it just took a while to get old gas out of injectors. A few hours later, as I was testing some of your guys answers, it started up!

Sounds good too.

Now it's time to empty old gas out and put new fuel pump in tank.

But here is a hypothetical situation:

Pageda, you said to leave that line alone. But suppose a doofus tried to mess with that line before he read your post, and now it leaks. now what to do?

Hypothetically, of course.

Get two feet of SAE 30R9 5/16" ID fuel injection hose and at least two fuel injection hose clamps. Replace the entire nylon line from nipple to the steel line above the axle. You'll have to cut off the flare fitting to get the line over the pipe.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Have you checked everything else. Is it getting spark? Is the engine firing on time? Is the timing belt ok? You know, the basics?
If the basics are good, can you hear the injectors clicking when the engine turns?
The injectors can be pulled placed over containers to check spray pattern.

Do you have spark at the plugs? Are the plugs wet with fuel?
The line at the back of the fuel pressure regulator is returning excess fuel to the tank, the fitting you are questioning in the last pic. Leave this line alone.

Air Mass Meter? With key out unplug and then start the car.

Fuel Injection Relay? Have you jumped the pumps at the fuse box?

25 amp fuse for fuel injection. Sits on the drivers fender with the little silver box next to it.

I'd start with these simple items first.
