No power to AC dash switch 200 1992

No power to the AC system at all. I checked the fuse and it is good. I am going to take the dash apart to find the relay, but I do not know how to test it. does any one have any ideas. the whole system was upgraded By Volvo in Austin. My Bently book has not arrived yet.

    No power to AC dash switch 200 1992

    Have had two 245's that had this problem, a '89 and a '92. in both cases ran a new wire from the switch to the fusebox, never found the break.
    Since the wiring and A/C relay is right behind the front console panel, the wires can get pinched in several place after removing the console many times, and the spot where the wiring loom goes over & down behind the steering column on the left side of the console is a likely place for the break. It's easiest to run a new wire.

      Thank you for your response. After reading, your post I checked for other connections on the circuit and found that the Rear Demister and seat belt reminder are connected to the AC switch and none work. (Have not had to use the grid, and I always have my seat belt on first—I was hit head on once) I will try to replace the wire in the morning. Do you have any tips??

        Actually, I will bet the wiring is OK, and you just have the very common problem of a fuse that "looks good" but isn't making proper contact. Remove the fuse, clean the contacts with the memory of your last visit to the dental hygienist and try again. Verify the power is on both fuse contacts using a test light.

        After you get used to owning a 240, you may learn to "roll" fuses without even looking at the panel.

        BTW, which do you own, a 91 or 92, or both?

          Dear Mr. Benstine,

          Are you a Norse God? Yes, it was the fuse! The edges were as white as a Gottemborg winter night. As I examined the fuses more closely, I discovered that ALL of the fuses are in the same condition. I am going to clean each terminal and replace all of the plastic fuses with ceramic ones this afternoon.

          Yes, I bought my wife a 1991 240 sedan 2 years ago and I have enjoyed driving and maintaining it so much that when a friend wanted to sell her 1992 wagon I jumped at it!!! I love these cars and I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

          Now, what do I do with the 18 year old GMC Jimmy, in showroom condition, that I drove new in high school, and on my first trip from Atlanta to Seattle, My first date with my wife. The one my father had made for me when he was a General Motors Engineer. –I am going to sell it and buy 25 slot 14-inch rims for both cars.

          I love my wagon…

            It's Bernstein but isn't he cool? I always watch for his reply because even if I don't have interest in the thread, he always has philosophical notes and comments plus knows some serious stuff. True that yo!
