CrinaMex glass replacing Pilkington OEM for 940 ? 900 1993

The glass shop said Pilkington told them Pilkington has outsourced 940 windshields to Crinamex in Mexico.

Any of you good folks have any experience with the Crinamex glass? Apparently the Chinese stuff from Safelite has optical problems, and my original windshield is a Pilkington.

Thanks

Yup, had my windshield replaced about 5 years ago and got a Pilkington/CrinaMex branded one. I was told the very same thing by the guy who installed it. I believe Pilkington was merged with or bought out by Vitro, CrinaMex's parent company. Quality-wise, it's every bit as good as the original as far as I can tell. No bubbles or separating layers.

I had mine done last Tuesday. The installer ordered the glass through Pilkington, and I got a CrinaMex-branded windshield, DOT 46.

      Looks OK so far ....

The local boneyard had an original Volvo/Pilkington windshield, but the installer said their policy was not to use junkyard glass. After seeing what happened to mine when it was being removed, I can understand why - it broke into a dozen pieces. The installer said it was thin glass, something he expected in old Volvos.
