Wiper washer not washing on my 960 900

Hi,

I have an issue with the wiper washer on my 1996 960. I can hear the motor working, I have filled the fluid containers for front and rear wipers but there is no fluid getting to the windshield. Any one have any experience with this situation?

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee

Dear Jim Lee,

Hope you're well. The tube, that carries fluid to the washer heads, could have come off. Trace the tube from the bank to the point on the firewall, where the tube should go through two holes in the hood liner, and thence to the spray heads. If the tubes are attached, then the check valve - black plastic, with a red top - likely has failed. These are not costly.

The check valve for the windshield washer is tucked among the wiring harnesses, on the firewall. The check valve for the rear window washer is attached the the body metal, with black butyl rubber. It is next to the right (passenger) side tail ligher cluster. You can access the valve by removing the plastic inspection panel just below the "D" pillar. You'll have to "feel around" to find the valve. Once you feel the rubber tubing, the valve is not far away. There is just enough "slack" in the tubing, to allow for valve replacement.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
