clutch cable rubber thingee in aluminum housing 200 1988

When replacing clutch cable, and the old cable is removed, and you're flat on yer back, close to a stroke, how in God's name do you push the plastic nut surrounded by the rubber housing back out of the aluminum neck that fastens the whole assembly to the clutch housing???

Or, do you just use the old one since it seems impossible beyond putting the whole motor in a vise and pounding it out with a ball peen hammer?

Nevermind, it was oxidized in place, must have been original 165K, pounded it out.

New cable is very cool, smooth, and adjustable! Worst part of job? Laying on backside.

Your talking about the clutch fork with the weight and the little rubber dampener? I always have to adjust the clutch cable all the way "loose" for it to go on the arm and be able to get that stuff back on.

If its the old cable stuck on the frame's loop I'd most likely just get a hammer and screw driver and pound it out towards the front of the car. Not exactly sure what rubber thingee your referring to.
