The smell of gas. 200 1990

This past summer I changed both fuel pumps and the fuel line which goes from the main pump to the fuel rail. Now whenever I fill the tank I can smell fuel. It's not real strong, but it's noticeable. I've checked the rail and all is dry there. And when I glance under the car all seems dry there. No gas on the pavement, etc.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to trace where the fumes might be coming from? I was thinking of somehow sealing where the in tank pump goes in.
Thanks

Check the fuel sender unit metal inlet and outlet lines as they tend to corrode and leak. I had that problem a few years back. You can see by popping the access plate and starting the car if there is a leak.

Did you use a new o ring and bung nut when you changed the in tank pump. You may have a sealing issue there. Also check the your filler pipe and see if it is getting oblong.Sometimes from years of use and abuse by gas attendants it may be out of round.Loose gas cap?
