940 ambient temperature gauge 900 1991

I recently bought one of these gauges and I can't locate the hole for the sensor. I'm guessing that becuase my 940 is a 91 model it may not have the hole.

Is there someone here who could post a photo of its location? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
Brad

Dear Brad,

Hope you're well. In 1993-95 940s sold in North America, the ambient temperature display is mounted on the extreme lower left corner of the instrument cluster, as you face it.

Please see the FAQs, for instructions on accessing the back of the instrument cluster.

If the cluster for the 1991 940s is designed to accept the sensor display housing, the opening for the sensor display should be filled with a black plastic piece, secured by two Phillips-head screws. Remove the screws, set the display in place of the "filler" piece, and secure it with the screws. The "filler" piece should be kept, in case You wish to remove the display.

The connector for the display should be present. If so, it may be taped to one of the harnesses, that connects to the instrument cluster.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Hi Spook

Thanks for your reply. I've sorted out where the display goes (I will have to wire this up since my 940 is not prewired for it) but I'm not sure about the temperature sensor. I've heard of several locations for the sensor including in the eggcrate intake under the front bumper, near the bumper shock mount and near the headlight.

Anyone have a definitive answer?

Thanks again

hello
there is hole in the bottom of the driver side in the eggcrate grill that the sensor snaps into.
that being said i like to locate mine behind the bumper or in that general ares as the i dont want the temp of the wind speed when i am driving.
good luck
Mike

Thanks Mike
I don't have a spot in the eggcrate grille for it (unless I find one at the wreckers). I'll see if I can find an alternate place.

I think I know where you mean. Under the bumper and above the spoiler in the centre. I haven't got a spot there. Will have to make do.

Thanks
Brad
