1984 240DL Wagon - How to clean AC drain? 200 1984

I have a 1984 240DL wagon with newly recharged and working AC. I think the interior AC drain tube is plugged - it drips under the car but also inside the console. Any suggestions on how to clear the drain tube? I can see where it ends under the car, but where is it located inside the dash? Thanks for any help!

    Pretty easy .... 200 1984

You have to first remove the two panels on the sides of the center console. There's a heavy phillips screw, and a plastic fastener (you insert and turn a large flat-bladed screwdriver for that).

Having removed the panels, you have to go deep inside toward the firewall, and you'll see, on each side, a rubber hose extending downward from a white (as I recall) plastic tray. Release the clamps and pull the hose ends toward you, but don't pull them out of their passageway below (it's hard to snake them back down). With a light, see if they're clogged; likewise, check the drains into the tray (use a wire to snake it through).

You'll probably encounter a piece (of what looks like sponge) farther down in the hoses -- this is some sort of "filter" for what I guess is a barrier against some insects (e.g., wasps?) flying up the hose drain into your car. You may want to remove it, or at least clean it, to facilitate water drainage.

    Good luck.
