sedan rear seat removal 200 1988

I just bought a 1988 240 sedan, and want to remove a fitted seat cover from the back seat. It's firmly anchored under and behind the seat, and will require removing the seat. Is the seat bottom in the 240 the same as in my '71 144 -- where you push the seat bottom hard to the rear to release it?

Cheers
David

Yes, you push down and back hard to disengage the clips near the front of the seat. I too have an '88 sedan and recently removed it. Do not pull up on the seat until you have pushed it back or else you could break the metal clips holding it in place.

Hmm, I've always just reached down between the seat back and seat bottom and pulled up hard on it. What you're saying makes perfect sense though. For the seat back, there is a metal tab on each wheel well that folds over a loop in the seat. Undo that and pull out and up to remove the back.

David, Let us know if you find a diamond ring under there!

Unfortunately I didn't find the Hope diamond under the back seat, which I assume is in the Smithsonian Institute where it usually is. On the other hand, there's also no rust under there, or under the carpet, and I did find £1.25 -- which is essentially a 0.5% cash back rebate.
