Some person is selling a 90s 240 for really cheap, but... 200

it dies after 10 minutes and then you have to wait 5 minutes to start it up again. He's changed the cap/rotor, plugs, and wires but to no avail. He's selling it for $500obo. I'm entertaining the idea of buying it if the problem is simple to fix. Could it be a bad AMM or fuel pump? I've not looked at the car yet but he says it has a straight body.

Is this a worthy investment? I could buy it, fix it for my own use or flip it later on.

"Pageda" and "122 and 940" nailed it, it's a well known and easy fix with the EZK ignitions on late 200s and the 700 series.

Just one more thing that got more complicated and less reliable after '88.

If it is 1990 or newer, I would not expect it to be ignition, unless it is the crank position sensor, which would not fail reliably after ten minutes.

If you go to look at it, take a paperclip to jump across the fuses to hot wire the fuel pump. If that keeps it running, it is either the relay (cheap to fix) or the control module (not so cheap, but easy).

The way to determine if it is the relay or the module is to ground the relay (which is the module's job) and see if that keeps it running. You need the wiring diagram to figure out which lead on the relay to ground.

IF I HAD THE $500 TO TIE UP FOR A MONTH OR SO, I'D JUMP ON IT.......

SOUNDS WAY UNDERVALUED FOR A QUICK FIX-N-FLIP........

I KNOW ME, THOUGH, I'D END UP KEEPING IT.........

Sounds like the power stage/ ignition amplifier, may just need a fresh coat of thermal paste.

If it'll start with the AAM unplugged that is probably the problem.

It's worth $500.00 in parts. Sounds like a bad sensor or similar to me.
