Odd Noise from Drivetrain 900 1996

I recently have noticed a loud moan coming from the rear of the car at specific speeds, say 45-55. It's loud enough to worry me. Seems like the Tach is sitting about 2500-3000 while the trans is changing gears, getting up to the speed limit. Sounds like it coming from the RR of the car during these episodes, which are sometimes constant, sometimes not. The exhaust is not plugged, have good flow. Once yo get either below or above this speed range, it disappears. Any one willing to take a guess?

A drive shaft center support bearing or more likely the rear transmission bushing can make a ROAD speed dependent noise as you described. Not sure what you mean when you reference rpm's while shifting.

the center support bearing will make a moaning noise but will telegraph up through the center of the car, a RR noise could be the exhaust system bumping up against something but it shouldn't be speed dependent

        Excellent hearing? 900 1996

Well, when I hear something "telegraphed" into the frame of the car I cannot really tell where it comes from. Have been fooled that way several times.
