IPD headers 120-130

Does the IPD headers give any kind of gain over the 2 port exhaust manifold from the b20?

From what I understand, the stock manifold is just fine until you've got a VERY serious (read unstreetable) street motor. Something that idles at around 2500 badly, and spends its productive time north of 5500 RPM. So, unless you like the headers for the looks (which I do, I'm afraid) and the gentle wow factor while we all stand around our cars bench racing at meets, I guess just stay with the stock late model manifold.

The current IPD header isn't very good. The older ones with longer primary tubes were ok for a 200 HP race engine but too large for a street motor.

    Hello,

All I've been told by some gurus is the oe set up is best unless head is highly modified.

I have a stahl header on my big bore b20 and it did make a difference for me on the low end but now the car can't hit 100 mph.when it got there easily before.
It may be unrelated but that's where it stands today. I am now trying to find a trustworthy machine shop to go over the head and have my dual intake manifold and SU's refreshed before going forward.

    good luck,
    greendread

I have Stahl headers on my PV race car and they work better than anything else I have tried. Happy to share the name of my head guy - I have paid for mucho development time on his flow bench that you can take advantage of. Think you might want to consider Webers eventually. 42's and even 45's can be made quite streetable. Jere Stahl, by the way, bought a P1800 and will be racing vintage with us this year.
