How do you take off the manual lever for the window of a 1971 P1800E? I am afraid of breaking it!

Hello,

If someone has not removed the special sheet metal washer, you simply push the plastic bezel either towards the handle or push away(depending on which way the clip was last installed) to push on the retaining clip underneath and then the handle should come off.

Is it a clip that holds it in an 1800E? Or is it a pin? I don't honestly remember. Maybe I'm thinking of an early 1800, or maybe I'm thinking Jaguar. In any event.. push that bezel for a looksee...

It's an omega-shaped clip, but flat steel instead of wire. You normally push the bezel in towards the door panel, and then you can slide it along the axis of the handle to push the clip free.
