So.. I got the car back from the shop... turned out, the only issues with the idle were the injector seals creating the vacuum leak, and.. very dirty injectors. Nothing wrong with the CIS system, or wiring.. it's better now. Not quite right, but for now, I'm attributing that to still less than clean injectors.

Overdrive issue though.. seems the overdrive (M46) sticks on. In all gears. I think it comes on all by itself, but I'm not totally certain.. in the short term, I pulled the fuse for it, and I haven't noticed it coming on since, so I'm thinking it's electrical.. I mentioned it when I dropped the car off for the idle stuff, and he said they replaced the relay.. it seems the problem continues though..

Any thoughts on what I should look at with that? Might it not be electrical? Sticking valve? (I pulled the fuse when the car was stopped, so.. I don't honestly know if that caused it to not be on, or if it was because the car was stopped)

sounds like the od soleniod is sticking more than likely from debris in trans flush the trans it might help &the other possibility is the pressure regulator in the od sticking from same issue after flush try some mobil 1 10/30 motor oil in trans & se if if fixes problemhave seen this one before

Hmm injector seals, I never thought they would make that much difference.
If the OD goes in and out itself, and you think it's electrical, then look for bad wire or short in the shift knob and shaft. The wiring can get trashed if the knob is accidently pulled off.
Does the green OD light on the dash switch on and off with the OD? It is activated by the same relay which switches the OD solenoid in the tranny.

Make sure there is enough tranny fluid.

I should have added.. the O/D light.. seems to behave appropriately... on and off with the switch, when in 4th. Never on in any other gear (though it *was* on in other gears before the relay)

I guess I need to just drive more and zero in on it a bit... not enough information yet...
