Battery Drain 200

I am having a very consistent battery drain on my 92.
It seems to be very dependent on how often i drive it... I can let the car sit for 2-3 days and i'll either have a weak start or none at all.
I had a DieHard SUV battery in it until this drain just killed it altogether.
Got a new one 2 weeks ago and now the drain is back.

What are some possible items to check with a volt meter?

I leave the radio disconnected and the dome light switched off.
The dash clock runs real slow and i always have to reset it even with a fully charged battery - thinking this might be my problem with a capacitor going bad within it.

I've checked the wiring that was left over from swapping from AW70 to M47 and nothing is grounding.

What else could I look for?

EDIT - after going deeper into the searches of RWD i'm told there is a delay switch under the dash near the brake pedals that causes most drains... this is rather odd cuz there is a cylindrical metal relay-type device that was mounted to the Clutch Brake Block and it stayed hot constantly. This the Delay Switch?

For me this has always been power door locks - frayed wire in the door.

Threads in the archives about it.

There is a light under the hood on the driver's side. Out of sight, out of mind. At least on my 88 and older, it has a 3 position switch. Be sure the light actually goes off when you close the hood. BTW yours is a very handsome wagon with those wheels.

Story: On my very first Volvo, a 1971 164, the battery was dead the morning after I drove it off the new car lot. Dealer couldn't find a problem, sent me on my way again. Next day same problem. AAA gave me a jump and I drove around to charge the battery. Got home and parked it at dusk, went out an hour latter and saw light though the radiator, looked like a high rise apt. with everyone home. It was that darn light under the hood, the switch wasn't shutting it off and it drained the battery...

Normal way to diagnose a drain.
Install a low wattage test bulb or multmeter set to amps in series with battery. If there is a drain then the bulb or meter will show it. Pull fuses one at a time till bulb/meter goes off. Now without guessing you know which circuit is causing the problem.

Have your door locks been acting up? If so, may be a shorted or broken wire. Disconnect the plug by your left knee with the red/grn/blk wires to see if the drain continues.

Get a test light. Disconnect your negative battery cable from the terminal. Put one end of the test light on the cable and the other end on the terminal. The test light should be lit due to the current of the drain. Now have a helper go in the car. With the door shut, pull one fuse at a time. When the light goes out, you know which circuit is causing the drain.
