brake question 200

Hello all, Today I changed my front brake pads. It was a simple job with no issues except.....when I retracted the pistons into the calipers, they went in with less resistance than I am used to. It made for an easy brake job but I am wondering if it is a warning of a pending problem. Could the master cylinder be weak? I thought it might be the caliper but it was equal on both. I bought the 240 with 219k and now have 322k. All I have replaced is the pads. Thanks!

When the pedal isn't depressed, there's nothing between the calipers and the reservoir. Shouldn't really be any resistance.

Though, when I do pads, I try to crack the bleeders when compressing pistons. Reasoning is that the gack in the calipers (the lowest point in the system) then gets pushed out the bleeder instead of up into the MC where seals can get wrecked.

is the pedal firm after the job ? does is go down at all with the car running and your foot firmly on the brake pedal ? if not I wouldn't worry about it...

Most likely no problem at all. Don't know what you're used to, but in the absence of any other facts of things not right sounds like you have some good calipers still.
