S90 Stereo backlighting bulb replacement S90-V90 1998

Hello, I have had good results on here so here goes again. I have read in the other section about a few similar problems and how they were rectified, but my problem concerns only the bulb and illuminates BEHIND the three preset buttons on the left side of the bank of six preset buttons. The right three have their bulb in good working order. Anyone have any experience removing the radio to get access to this bulb. I have pulled the radio halfway out, it is the SC-816 model of radio/cassette/CD player. Thanks for whatever info you have, even just the bulb type! Doug

Radio shack # 2721092.
These little suckers are tiny. Mine were not soldered in. They were simply wrapped around a holder. But it is microscopic work. All of the lighted switches in your dash use the same bulb. IIRC the radio ones had little coloured gelcaps that go on the bulb to change its colour. Not very difficult. Just tedious. If you are going into the radio you should probably do them all

here is an excellent procedure

Before you unplug the radio and remove completely be sure you have the security code. As I remember they were very small 12V incandescent bulbs and I was able to match them at Radio Shack, they were soldered in place.
