I saw a sweet 1990 245 but... 200

Gold outside, good paint, no rust, 154,000. The absolute cleanest(P)leather interior I've ever seen. One lady owner who donated the car to charity. (?) It's an automatic, but still very desirable to me. Do you know how a wife can give you the look of 'don't even try to bring it home'? I got that look tonight. I'm gonna have to go back and look again and drive it around some more! Listen, the lady must have had tiny feet because the map pocket hasn't even been touched and must not have weighed more than 20 pounds because the drivers seat still feels new. What to do??

cars are like buses. there is always another one coming soon.

a good woman is decidedly harder to find and still more so to keep.

Where is it? I'm rooting around for a nice 240 for my daughter's first car.

Err, just to maintain your marital harmony, that is!

It's in Rocky Mount, NC at the corner of Bus 301 and Jeffreys Rd. Can't remember the name of the lot, but the owners name is Sammy. Doesn't know jack about Volvo's but he ended up with a nice one on his lot. I won't be going by there until Monday, 11/30/09, on the way to work but I can you the lot name and ph. # then if you want.

Car was originally purchased at Weaver Bros. Volvo in Raleigh according to the label on the tailgate. Weaver's is big and been in business a long time.

My argument has always been, "Would you rather have me working on cars in our driveway, or out in a bar or strip club somewhere having a few beers?" It's a great logic....she knows where you are when you're under a car.....

You have to ask your wife if it's ok to buy another Volvo? I just say "hey honey I'm getting another Volvo" and she does the same if she wants and can afford something.

'66 - I've been married a long time and have been through all the wars a married can get into with his bride. Example, we bought her a brand spankin' new car that she really liked - for whatever reason I had the day off and drove her to work in the car. On the way home from dropping her off I saw a used Corvette on that same dealers lot - I traded her car in on it. Can you imagine the fun I had when she got off work? The only thing that balances that out for me is she rolled a '69 Dodge Dart 340 of mine just before we got married. I say all that to say although I can buy, and will when it's right, I won't buy if it's just on a whim. I've mellowed and talk it over more nowadays. Experience? Maybe some, but just choose battles more carefully that's for sure. R2

Haha, Yeah definatly pick and choose the battles.

I find the thing with us that helps is we've been together for over 10yrs and as well as having joint savings for bills expenses etc, we both have separate accounts for our personal spending. So as long as we can find it in those we're good to go, she would give me that wtf? look is I came home with another car but only due to the "where do you plan on parking it" issue.

*grin* reminds me of the 86 244 I bought. The price was right, girlfriend out of town.... she got back and didn't notice for 3 weeks (due to the other 240s in the driveway). I don't know if I was more amused or terrified during that time, but once she noticed it was all over and I was 86'd -true story

If you are smart, you will listen to your wife, or at least do a great sales presentation to her before you buy it!

Weather, if I can't have it I would at least like to see it go to another Volvo guy. I'm in NC and I saw the title that is also from NC - so totally rust free. If I can do anything for you let me know. The car is on one of those really small independent type car lots off the main road. I'm not sure it will move fast as it's not getting that much visibility. Most likely it'll go to someone that just buys it for cheap transpo and doesn't care anything about the cars.

Apply the 48 hour rule. Buy it, hide it in plain sight behind the garage, and when the wife sees it a week or two later, you say, "Oh that old thing, that's been back there since last year, I'm setting it up for the kids safety as a first car."

If it's in plain sight for 48 hours, and nobody says anything, it's a fair purchase.
