My 89 760T wagon has an issue with the central locking system, i would just like all the doors to open when i use the driver door key and lock when i push down the driver door knob. I have removed the door panel and see someone has butchered the door when installing an actuator for a remote alarm system. How do i get to the original actuator? Should i remove the aftermarket one?

    Actually the drivers door did not have an actuator, just a switch. That sends a signal to all the other locks which have actuators.

      So the plunger type black box about mid way up the door is only a switch? The actuator on the bottom of the door has two wires coming from the bottom and into the engine compartment. Is there no way to have the doors unlock from turning the key in the driver door? My driver door locks when i turn on the key and Unlocks when i turn the car off.

        If someone added a remote, then they may have bypassed the switch. The lock knob runs down with a rod to the switch. That triggers the actuators in the other doors to lock/unlock. So when you lock/unlock with the key, the other doors should respond. Look at this, shows how to add remotes. Will give you a better understanding how the system works.

          The rod coming from the knob goes down to the switch, and has another rod going to the aftermarket switch. I will try to replace the switch with one i have and see what happens.

            How do i remove the switch in the door? it seems to be connected to something i can't see. Do i have to take out the door latch to get to it?

              door latch has to come off, some held in with allen bolts some with what looks like torx but as I recall are triple square xzx fasteners. There is a plastic shield that has to come off too then you can remove the thing, it's black about the size of a cigarette pack with a spool of thread on the end.

            If you are talking about the after market actuator, that is so when the remote is pressed, the drivers door locks/unlocks.
