Chop em up Johnny! 140-160

So the time has come to cut up the 71 142e that was totaled a couple years ago, The donor body is all ready for everything from the wrecked one. I'll be moving in Jan as well which has lit a fire under my ass, Got to have the shell re-assembled by the end of Dec. The donor 142 is a 70s, so everything is coming out of the 71e. So far the worst part was getting the heater core, dash etc out without having a fit. Everything else has unbolted smoothly. Looking forward to measuring the rear trailing arms between the two years, I was reading about a few differences between the years of 70 & 71.

Anyways Here's a couple pic's I thought some of you would be interested in checking out, I will post up more of the deconstruction as well as assembly. The pile of scrap metal is getting bigger by the night! Finally had a reason to buy a sawzall.

Enjoy.

Finally got back into the garage to wrap up the tear down of the 142e I'm pulling apart. Pulled the fuel & brake lines out, gas tank and fuel pump. Gas tank escaped any real damage in the rear ender with the exception of the seam splitting and leaking, will get that fixed sometime later on. Pulled the rear end, put a jack under the trans and cut out the rest of the floor and fire wall. All done with tear down, next is to clean the engine and trans and start putting it all back together over Dec. Lots of work ahead of me, I see late nights in my future.

Is the 142 tunnel sheetmetal worth keeping, or is it the same dimensions as the 122 tunnel?

With your CST time zone, I gues you are no where close to eastern Pennsylvania, right?

i could use your firewall/floor, trans tunnel remains for my 1970 145 great paint with rotted unibody

No Luck, I'm in the pacific northwest. Vancouver Canada to be exact, All I have left is the tunnel metal. Everything was cut up and the scrap guy took everything else yesterday, I'm moving into my own house in Jan so I didn't have time or space to hold on to any of it. As well as a lot of it was rustier than I recalled, thankfully the donor shell is not.

Is the 142 tunnel wider than the 122 tunnel?

I think CST is the time zone the board uses, and is not necessarily the time the poster is on.

You can change the time zone by selecting "preferences" not profile.

Ummm, nope.

What would I then use to tell how fast I'll be going in my 142 when it's back on the road in the spring?

never hurts to ask, lets hope it goes back together as nice as it came apart. Put the motor, trans & crossmember in this morning. Was a breeze, jacked the body up over the front end and motor with an engine hoist and rolled the whole front suspension and motor under the body. Crossmember bolts lined right up, the whole thing took 45m in at the max!
