Wagon doors?? 120-130

Are the doors on the 122 Wagon the same as the doors on the 122 4-door?

I recently primed my car and now I can see every little imperfection. The doors are worse than I thought, a skim coat of bondo won't do it. So I figured it would be easier to find some better doors, assuming the 4-door doors are the same.

If wagon doors are unique, then I think I'm in trouble.

Let me know.

Thanks!

Primer brings out the worst. I would go ahead and clean up the rear doors with bondo, see what they would look like with a second coat of primer. Then attack the front doors.
Shipping costs are the problem for doors.

Yeah... it's starting to get to me. There's a lot of dings in the car. I think I am going to wait on the paint for now.

I was hoping to find some doors, and fix them up. This way, I don't have to work on the ones on the car. Then I could swap them out.

      Ughh.... gumption traps!!!!

The only problem with donor doors is matching the correct color on the inside sills. Silly putty still works best. Remember, a lot of 'dings' will go away visually with a couple of thin coats of paint.

I'm willing to bet your doors are cream puffs compared to mine. Volvo metal is very good to work with, should be no problem at all to straighten them. Dent free parts for a 40 year old car would be hard to come by. Hell, even brand new parts come with dents in them.

I've got a set of straight wagon doors up here in zip code 98362. I think that shipping would be just a shade less than what it would cost to send a complete Subaru WRX. FYI, Slyhook (see further down the page in this Forum) in Chico, CA indicates that he has a project wagon for $400. You might see if a deal can be struck there.

front doors should be the same (from a 4 door sedan), but rear doors have a different window surround shape. The outer door skin itself is probably the same, but that's a heck of a lot of work... as is converting sedan doors to fit wagon windows.

If you can't find doors quick, since you're still in primer... I'd be thinking bondo.. sounds like your blemishes are pretty thin body filler really isn't a problem.. A lot of cars have a thin layer from the factory...
