Missing header support bracket 200 1990

I have a '90 245 with recently a replaced by me exhaust system. I did everything but the front muffler which must have been recently replaced by the PO because it is rock solid. Despite numerous posts about fitment issues, my FCP Groton / Bosel parts went together with minimal tweaking. I am however missing the header to body bracket. As luck would have it, it's also missing on my '89 parts car. The local PYP is not an option because they remove the wheels and the underside of the cars is inaccessible.

Does anyone have a bracket that they are willing to part with for a reasonable price? Alternatively, I suppose I could make one out of bar stock, but this could be a PITA. Anyone make one for their brick? I'm in SE PA near Philly.

Mike

Bracket and all hardware obtained for less than $20 from local volvo dealer. Thanks to all who responded.

Those are pretty cheap from a dealer. I got one a few mos ago for $12, and the clamp/strap another $2, plus a few grade 8 bolts.

BTW it bolts to the bell housing/trans bolt points not the body.

Any Pictures of the Strap. I bolted my bracket back on when I did the Trani but the Strap setup was all rotted away, Nothing left but the 1' long Hardware.

You must have a very patient Dealer. The guy by me hates having to actually grab a book and look up parts. He doesn't seem to have Microfiche for 200's

It's actually a simple L Bracket with a single slot on the bottom and two slots on the front side for bolting it to the trans bracket.

Earlier 240 set-ups and 740's had an 'S' type wire bracket with two clamps and two bolts that mount the 'S' bracket to the header pipe, and another clamp that mounts to the trans bracket. Either type can be used, but the simple L bracket is the cheapest of the two.

Also I would get the bolts from the dealer unless you have a good source for Grade 10.8 metric bolts, washers & nuts (same as grade 12 SAE) as the cheap ones from places like Lowes/Home Depot don't hold up with the heat. I found some at an industrial supply store, but had to buy a box.

Thanks
I have teh bracket that bolts to teh Bellhousing and teh "L" bracket is in good shape What I'm missing is the way teh bolt that goes through the Slot attaches to the Header Pipe. Was there a tab that was welded to the Heat shield?

Hi Tony,

The way I remember the original header, it had two straps across the two pipes at the support, one on top having a clearance hole, and the one on the bottom having a weldnut underneath. The long bolt would go from the L bracket down, through the space between the pipes and cinch the weldnut, thus supporting the pipe from below.

The aftermarket replacements I've seen have weldnuts on both straps placed on the inside. I just figure these parts are mostly marketed to shops who do exhaust system work with a torch and stick welder.

Thanks. It never even occured to me that the dealer would have it. I'll get it soon and pick up some bolts. Mike

Let us know, please, how you make out. I misplaced one in December, and tried to order one from Tasca. My order was canceled, "NLA". Later I found the part I'd misplaced, naturally, just after I made something out of scrap steel, and due to an anal retentive nature, swapped in the real part. I tried to order 1306923.

Here's a recent thread on the subject: Need 940 Front Pipe Bracket Details
