lighting the dash 200

Daughter's 1987 245, 250,000 plus miles. The odometer, since purchased 2 yrs ago, has not worked. Broken wiper linkage repair, driver's side last week, now speedo and gas gauge are not working as well.
Replaced with working dash unit from JY car. Everything now works except the lights at the top of the dash unit that illuminate the gauges at night, all bulbs are in place. I can not find where the power is supplied to those bulbs. Is it listed in a Bentley schematic?

The lighting inside the instrument panel comes in on the larger round connector on the back of the instrument panel. There are differences in instrument panels and the types of bulbs that light up the instrument panel, there was a change over to halogen bulbs at some point after 89 I think. There is a service Engine light and other differences also. I am sure one of out better versed Tech guys can go in to more detail.

Do you know what year the instrument panel you installed came out of?

The nonworking Odometer from the 87 is almost for sure the little gear up inside the speedo. You can buy that at Odometer Gear and fix it in about an hour start to finish.

Here is the link:http://www.odometergears.com/volvo.html

Be sure the use odometergears there is another guy selling them at odometergear and not sure if these are the same gears. That is a tough gear and this will be the last time you have to work on that part of the speedo.

Regards,

Paul
