My middle seat back is stuck, the recessed handle is broken; does anyone know where I can find a parts diagram to understand the pivot point; and what I need to purchase from the u pull it parts yard

Thanks

92 wagon Middle seat back parts diagram 200 1992

Wish I had a diagram to share. Nonetheless, I had a similar experience. The handle broke. I got the seat to drop by using a screwdriver applied to the latches at the sides. I went to a pick n pull to take apart a seat back handle just to learn how they work and how best to take them apart. If the handle was tan plastic, I'd look for another color, maybe black, they hold up better. The molding you see surrounding the recessed handle will pry loose, be gentle on tan plastic. Inside is likely a white plastic pivot mechanism that the handle and cables to the latches attaches to. I had to try a couple of seat backs until I got enough good parts to make a repair on mine. You won't need cables (wires), just the plastic.

92 wagon Middle seat back parts diagram 200 1992

thanks for the input

This is my second wagon....the 86 I had before didn't have this problem I had that one for four years 240,000 to ? 300,000; the wiring was bad and the rocker panels were destroyed; just not worth working on when the engine went south

I just got a 92 with a great body, good engine, 127k and working a/c !

Now to just fix the rear seat

Thanks
John

Don't do as I did... 200 1992

Hi John,

I ruined mine. You know, I often post pics of my successful fixes to help others, but I should show you all my stupid failures just as well, just in case someone else gets a mind to travel down the wrong fork.

When the latch release button broke, I saw how flimsy it was, and how every one in the junkyard was also broke-- except the pre-86 version - made of die-cast metal. I should have searched the board, where good advice given seems to be to get the replacement release button from Volvo. Supposedly it is not expensive.

Now, with my hack job, Mrs. B can no longer easily release the seat back in her car. It is like the pickle jars now, another thing a brute is needed for. I should have just ordered the part (3521830-4) which Tasca's site says lists for $14.79.

My suggestion to you is, get some confirmation from someone else on the Brickboard, who has done this the right way, or visit the parts counter at a dealership, and see if they can pin down the part. The Tasca discount is substantial but the shipping would offset it.

And if you really want a bunch of silly one-liners, just google any one of mine and they will multiply like fruit flies on bananas.

No wonder nobody comes here; it's too crowded.

Don't do as I did... 200 1992

Thanks for the pics

Didn't know about TASCA, tried them, tried the part number but it didn't work.
Did see other things of worth.

The only seat items taht I saw related to seat tracks.

Do you really have all those cars, or are the sequential?

And you quote Yogi Berra....???(and I listened?)

86 240 dl wagon 300k just deceased
92 240 wagon 127k good body, engine, rocker panel (yea!) just got it Aug 09

Tasca's part number lookup 200 1992

Hi John,

I should have mentioned, Tasca's Volvo part lookup changed not too long ago. You used to have to include the check digit, but now they dropped that and you must not include the check digit. That's the "dash 4" in the number I posted.

Still, I don't recommend you just order the part I think you need. Stop at Koons, or Bill Kidd's if they're still in business.

All what cars? Oh, my profile. Yes, it is up to date, except for the mileages. Actually, if you're in Baltimore, they pretty much surround you, spread around Central Maryland, not all at my home! Only sent two not listed LH2.0 cars on to Valhalla - those were my favorites of course.

If Fed Ex and UPS were to merge, would they call it Fed UP?
