Safe jacking points 120-130

Is there a do/don't list, especially for cars that have floorboard rust issues? It looks like the framing under the sides of the car, more formally known as the cross member (right/) would handle a jack OK but I wanted to check.

Thanks guys!

Howdy,

I lift mine under the third member in back and under the engine cradle in front. If I must lift from the side, there is a junction (forward) where the frame rails meet up with a cross member, about a foot in from the sill. I lift there. I have seen a couple of other cars that I would not trust even that spot to lift. If you have to lift the rear from the side, use your judgment. Using the built-in jack points is flirting with disaster even on a car that "looks" solid.

I use a floor jack and lift either under the engine crossmember or under the differential.

Working under the car, I use ramps or jack stands.

Times three. If any of the areas that you are planning on putting a jackstand under look suspect, at the very least put in a large 2X6 to spread out the load, then stand on the car close to the jack. If it creaks and groans, I'd stick with the tried and true areas mentioned by previous posters. Safety first, and all that good stuff.
