alternator adjustment bracket 200 1986

Loose belts on alternator. When I checked for the reason noticed that the mounting bolt for the adjustment bracket had broken. Does the the broken piece of the bolt need to be extracted (can it be extracted) or is there another approach to securing the lower end of the adjustment bracket.

    Hi there,

I've not heard of any workaround to apply here. I guess the ease of extraction will depend on how it broke; was it twisted off by a previous owner, or broken because it was loose inside the bushing. After replacing the bracket mount, you should check the long pivot bolt and the sleeves in the alternator housing for excessive wear, a likely result of running with the broken hardware.

We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
