Getting dents out 700 1987

Hi folks,

I have a few dents and dings - mostly on the drivers side front fender, and some scuffs on the passenger side doors. I would like to know if I should try to bang these out with a plastic mallet, or simply replace the body panel at a later date. I don't have any interference with the tire because of the dents.

If one of you all lives in central or western NC, and has a front drivers side fender and some door molding for the passenger side, that would be great too!

Thanks!

Ari

I remember seeing a video on youtube once of someone using dry-ice to remove small dents like door dings and hail damage. It was pretty cool (ok - pun intended!). I think the proceedure was to park the car in the sun so the panel gets very hot and then hold the dry-ice against the dented area and it will shrink the metal where it has stretched to create the dent. Didn't say if it damages the paint any. That may be a risk you have to take.

I haven't tried it, but it looks like it has potential.

Ari,

Paintless dent repair is one of the fastest growing automotive services available. So, using plastic hammers, small mallets, sticks, rods, spoons, wood blocks and wedges, your hands, or whatever it takes to push dents from the inside out is certainly worth a shot. Try it. The worst that can happen is the paint will break and you'll have to patch it.
