Sorry to hear that, I think I remember your original post. Sounds like the machine shop got in a hurry during the bore job and overheated/distorted the cylinder bores, you will probably also find that the center of the bore is narrower than the top and bottom.
I trust the one and only machine shop I use 100%, that being said, everyone makes mistakes, so I do the final assembly myself while checking every tolerance in the process. Out of four engines I've had machined at this shop, I only had to take one block back, one of the four cylinder sleeves were 0.002" too large at the top for the double over piston spec. No questions asked, the shop re-sleeved that cylinder at no charge. After all they protect their reputation and respect their customers! Perhaps that's because they're good ol' boys, I don't know, I don't care, they just make it right.
Beyond that, when they run into electrical issues on their project cars, I'm the one they call to help out.
So, based on your latest post, I'll recommend that folks don't trust their local machine shop to do the work and final assembly as that gives them the opportunity to hide the mistakes they made. Let the shop do the machining work, go to harbor freight or Northern Tool and by $100 worth of Chinese micrometers, bore gauges, straight edge, feeler gauges, and a dial caliper. Measure everything before doing the assembly yourself, find something wrong, take it back to have them fix it!
Note, I'm not a fan of Chinese "pseudo-precision" measurement tools, but on a budget, $100 gets you in the ball park!
