I'd still suggest what I suggested in that thread. Get the proper bolt at a hard ware store for $1, use an angle grinder to cut 4 or 5 slots in it, and use it as a tap. Doesn't need to be hardened steel to cut the soft aluminum, and you don't have to buy an spendy tap that you likely won't ever use again.
