I have been working a 740 for my son. I have noticed one ball joint looks collasped and the other does not. I assume the collapsed one is the bad one but the shake test really doesn't pin it down.

Any other way of checking or should I just replace them both.

They are cheap and easy to replace: just do them.

I ditto that! I just changed the right side due to a clunk and it seems the left one is going southas well!..FYI The torque values for the two bolts to the strut(hopefully supplied with the new joints ) are 22 ft lbs then tighten another 90 degrees. The single bolt is 44 ft lbs..Good luck

I figured changing them both would be good measure
