I have checked and replaced the # 16 fuse and no lamps will illiminate in the dash or in the shift selector. My manuals do not address this problem, where else can i look?? the dash lamps would not run in a series would they?

    Not sure what you mean by "the dash" - the instrument cluster, or the center console area?

    If the latter, vibration can cause the tiny lampholders to jump out of their sockets, and occasionally the grounding for the console lamps is questionable. Pull the console fascia off and push the lamps back in, maybe with just a dab of nailpolish to hold 'em in place.
