v90 knock sensor info 900

Hi, I recently posted this in V90, but thought I would do it over here, too:

Not really posting a serious question, just information for anyone who might one day be interested.

A few days ago, I was in the market for a new knock sensor. Dealer wanted $99 for a Bosch part. I kept looking around. Finally, I called the Advance Auto Parts store down the street from me. They sell a knock sensor for $38. "Who makes it," I said. "BWD, Borg Warner." Okay, so it's not the Bosch part, but Borg has a factory in my town, so I figured I'd do my part for keeping the company alive. AND it's almost 1/3 the price of the Bosch.

Anyway, 2 delivery days later, I pick up the part at the store. When I get home, I open the box, and to my surprise, the part is made in Germany, Has the word "Bosch" stamped on it, and is completely identical to the OEM part. Funny part, it was in a Borg box.

Anyone else run into this?

    Dear Hans747,

May this find You well. I have not. However, it is likely that Bosch is the sole maker of these knock sensors, at least in the format found on Volvos. It would hardly be worth anyone else's investment. What is the number of the Borg-Warner part? Is there a Bosch part number molded into the part? If so, what is that number?

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

Dear Spook, sorry this reply is not to your current thread. I tried to ask you a question regarding to coolant in ATF (your reply to "Help, AW40", but it is READ ONLY. I cannot reply to your the other message). In your other message you said that "If the ATF is cloudy, it is likely that coolant has gotten into the ATF. That means the in-radiator ATF cooler has failed." My 1998 Volvo S90 has the same problem. Several month ago I found the loss of coolant, but could not find where it was gone. So I just simply filled water every week. Then after several weeks the coolant stop losing. However, several weeks ago my transmission has a problem. The car drives fine when it was cold. But after driving 10 minutes, the gear could not be engaged. If I stop the engine for 5 minutes, then I could drive for another 5-10 minutes, and then I have to stop the engine for another 5-10 minutes to let it cool to make the transmission work. Is that possible the transmission problem was caused by the losing coolant? Is that possible the coolant lost internally to engine or transmission? I have another 1996 Pontiac car, has the similar problem (losing coolant internally). What I have to do to fix the transmission problem as well as the coolant problem? Thanks.
